Our sister company, Practical Refrigeration Training Centre Ltd requires a Part time electrical tutor for Apprentice and Commercial courses, either to be employed by them or sub-contracted if you prefer to invoice them for your time. Averaging one to two weeks per month dates can be arranged to fit in with your other commitments and there can be considerable flexibility when developing the timetable.

What you will be teaching:

Apprenticeship Courses

City and Guilds 6090-20 (level 2) and 6090-30 (level 3)
These are delivered in one week blocks although occasionally two weeks will run concurrently. Students will be 16/17 + (usually 18 + for level 3) and the maximum class size is 11.

Commercial Courses

Full details are shown elsewhere on the website but these are short courses sometimes scheduled, sometimes put on to order for a particular company:

City and Guilds 2382-18 18th Edition
3 day course for experienced electricians
5 day course for inexperienced/non-electricians
2 / 3 courses per year

City and Guilds 2391-52 Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations
5 day course for experienced electricians who should already hold their 18th Edition
2 / 3 courses per year

City and Guilds 2391-22 Pat Testing
2 day course
1 / 2 courses per year

Who they are looking for?

Ideally they are looking for an experienced electrician with service and contracting experience who now wants to go into (or who is already involved in) teaching. An enhanced DBS certificate is essential but can be obtained when you join. Teaching/assessing qualifications an advantage but not essential as training can be given.

Although at present they only offer the above City and Guilds’ courses there is scope to expand these and possibly offer qualifications from other providers depending on your background and experience. Salary negotiable.
